Wizards make wise move, change game time plus highlights

By: travis | April 2nd, 2008

With the success of the University of Kansas basketball team, the Wizards have moved the kick off of Saturday’s game against the Rapids to 4 PM CT. In case you are in any doubt of that game time, their main page has the goods right here.

This is without a doubt a no-brainer for the Wizards. By leaving the game at the same time, they would lose not only fans coming out to the game, but also television viewers as well. Glad to see an MLS team like that recognizing the demographics of the surrounding area. Although, if you are reading this and live in the proximity, please share your thoughts on the situation. My conclusions are simply educated guesses.

Not much other news to report. Claudio Lopez’ goal against D.C. has him up for the MLS Goal of the Week. Sorry, it’s the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week. His celebration is the picture on the left. Highlights are right here, including the worst possible camera angle ever:

I love how the MLS isn’t like the EPL when it comes to highlights. Enjoy.

And you’ll lose plenty of people who had already planned their schedule around this game. I can’t make the game now due to my son’s youth soccer game. The rest of my son’s team(9 more kids, and at least 1 parent per child) were planning on going too, they’re out now. I have other friends who now are stuck at work because of the game change.

It’s a little late on this, so I don’t know if anyone will read it. I am sure there are arguments both ways on this issue. I DO want to give a huge kudos to the staff at the Wizards. We are going down to KC from Omaha (about 180 miles) for this game. We ordered the tickets over the phone. A couple of weeks after we got the tickets this schedule change was made. Two different people down there called us to let us know about the change. They figured, correctly, that we would not hear about it up here. That is care for fans, and I really commend them for it. As for this Saturday - GO WIZARD’S!

Travis! I’m waiting for my preview! How else am I to know how believe your team will destroy my visting Colorado Rapids? I pulled together a rambler of a preview from Colorado’s point of view and am still trying to think about a suitable, yet friendly, wager for the occasion.

If my camera was working, I’d say the loser has to post a picture of himself with his finger up his nose…past the first knuckle, mind. Thoughts?
