Moving on Up

A win is always welcome at this venture of the season. With every match extremely crucial to having a shot at the postseason, these three points will go a long way. The new signings (not so new anymore) Abe Thompson and Herculez Gomez left a strong mark on the match, with Gomez looking dangerous on a number of different occasions.

It was the familiar presence of Josh Wolff that really helped steady things. He was the dominating attacker this team lacked before his arrival a couple of months ago. He basically is what Claudio Lopez isn’t. He drew the penalty that Jewsbury buried to open the scoring. That was all that was needed, as the backline of Jimmy Conrad, Aaron Hohlbein, Tyson Wahl, and Michael Harrington made sure that Toronto didn’t even got a shot on goal. Impressive feat.

To add to the celebration, Kevin Souter came on as a substitute late in the game, and managed to score on a fluke goal (that somehow ended up as a GOTW nominee) for his first MLS goal ever. Next up is a trip out to Los Angeles to take on Chivas USA. They’ll have to take down Chivas lacking regular Jack Jewsbury who picked up his fifth yellow card of the season and be forced to take a seat.
