The Coach
New Coach!!! Not Really
By: Herschel |In a move that probaly shows that the Wizards Front Office might know money but doesn’t really know that much about soccer, KC has removed the title of “interim” from Peter Vermes and now he is officially…, wait for it…, wait for it… the new head coach of Your Kansas City Wizards.
Now What? Starting from the top.
By: Herschel |So now that the passion/disappointment has simmered a bit after a below mediocre season, I figured I’s sit and look at the team as a whole and write about what I thought should happen for 2010.
No Win. No Playoffs. No more Vermes, please.
By: Herschel |Yes Kansas City played better yesterday than their last game against Colorado; yes they could have won to keep the slim playoff hopes alive. But NO we didn’t win; no we didn’t finish off a team that played almost 70 minutes a man down and missing one of their best players; no, we aren’t [...]
KC vs. Colorado. Let Herm and Jim tell you what I think.
By: Herschel |Needing a win against a depleted Colorado team on their 3rd game in one week the Wizards earned a point at home and basically kissed their playoff aspirations good bye. Only winning out and getting a lot of help will keep KC from watching the MLS playoffs from home.
Close to a Record in Futility; and of course we lost
By: Herschel |Down a goal, up a man for about 60 minutes, against a Real Salt Lake team that was missing a few starters and decided to play only one forward, the Peter Vermes strategy called to have, on paper, 5 defenders on the field. Wow, and I thought before the game that things couldn’t get [...]
Better Effort, Better Play; Same Offense, Same Result
By: Herschel |A different Wizards team came out to play on Sunday afternoon against a Chicago Fire team that was missing 4 of its starters. Although Peter Vermes’ hand/work is starting to show, it wasn’t enough to get the Wizards out of the winless streak and scoring drought that has plagued them for months already.
The Vermes Experiment Begins this weekend
By: Herschel |On Sunday the Wizards will take on the Fire at the CAB. It will mark Peter Vermes’ first game as a coach after taking over the position when Curt Onalfo was fired. From watching some of the practices and reading the reports from their friendly against a PDL team last week, it seems [...]
Onalfo in his own words
By: Herschel |A few weeks back I wrote an entry on what I did not like about Curt Onalfo and his style of coaching. I was tough but I also tried to justify every one of my opinions on things I had seen on the field ever since he had taken over the team, especially in [...]
Onalfo Fired. How it could have gone down.
By: Herschel |I’m sure that by now everyone is aware that Coach Curt Onalfo and his assistant Kris Kelderman were fired yesterday. The press release details are sketchy so I’m not sure how things transpired. I do have a few theories on how On Goal handled the whole situation.
Played a bit better. Still can’t score.
By: Herschel |The Wizards seemed to play a better game this past Saturday against New England than last week’s home loss against Houston but still cannot seem to find the back of the net; luckily neither could New England.
