Rain, Rain go away…
By: travis | March 3rd, 2008First update from Argentina:
It’s been raining a lot since the Wizards arrived and they have been practicing mostly inside. In fact, the first exhibition they were scheduled to play against Defensa y Justicia. It has now been rescheduled til Tuesday. The other three teams on the schedule are Velez Sarsfield, River Plate, and Boca Juniors. I’m familiar with the last two teams as they are two of the bigger Argentinian clubs (if not THE big clubs). I’ll post reactions and post game thoughts from each game as they take place, or if they are canceled again.
And what’s another post without a Lopez update? Steve Goff is reporting the two sides are close. They’re only “ironing out the final details.” I can send them an iron if that would help speed up the negotiations and end this dragged out sequence of events. Although it really hasn’t been that long. According to downthebyline, who have read or translated this Argentine article into English, Lopez has been practicing and training with some of the players and will continue to do so during this preseason. Looks like we’re close.

Fear Velez as much as the other two. They are top of table, tied with Boca after four games. A lot of people think they could win the league this year.
