A DC Draw and Conrad in Lillestrøm’s Forsvar?
By: Michael | February 21st, 2007Huzzah! Kansas City have now improved to 0-2-1 after a 0-0 draw with DC United. Coach Onalfo called the game the Wiz’s best yet and apparently defender Jose Burciaga, Jr. and youngster Yura Movsisyan (fresh off an ankle injury) nearly connected to put the tally in KC’s favor. For the first time, however, we were out-shot by our opponents (including a 30-minute shotless drought to end the game). Also, one of my golden boys – up-and-coming midfielder Ryan Pore – left the game with an undisclosed injury. Hopefully it isn’t something that will require him to miss significant training time.
Today – perhaps even this minute – the Wizards are playing the Chicago Fire. Anyone familiar with MLSnet, however, knows the results won’t be ready for at least another 24 hours. It takes a long time to write those vague two paragraph summaries, you know.
In other KC news, apparently Lillestrøm SK, a UEFA Cup participant from Norway, has been hot to sign Jimmy Conrad away from the Wizards. No need to worry, however – the latest is that the MLS would not accept their proposed fee and the talks have cooled down. This is good news for the MLS and especially for the Wizards. Let’s keep our talent at home!
I had started “A Field Guide to Wizards” today, but after an hour of writing up the first entry, I accidentally navigated away from the WordPress page I was composing it on and lost the entire thing. My frustration has caused me to keep this re-write short, so I guess I am left with an important lesson (compose long posts in Word instead of online!) and you are all left with a tantalizing tease of what is to come at kcwizards.theoffside.com.
