A Win Is a Win

By: Mike | August 12th, 2008

Sorry this is so late, I was have some technologically challenged old guy problems. It was an enjoyable time in KC seeing the Wizards win a game that keeps them in the running for the playoffs. They looked good building up a 3 to 0 lead in the first two thirds of the game. Then things got rough as they handed Chivas 2 points on set plays. The last part of the game was tense as Hartman saved the day several times over. See Mike’s report at Down the Byline and Bob’s at the Wizards site for detailed reports by people who know much more than I.

From my big picture view as a general fan, I was glad to see the Wizards score three points. Offensively they were alive and exciting to watch for several stretches of the game. And, of course, Hartman was fantastic. Mike at the Byline says they let off the gas in the second half, and I’m sure he knows what he’s talking about. However I also had the feeling that they might have been waiting for the other shoe to drop when they got that lead. They have been in that situation several times this year only to have the three points slip through their fingers, and it almost felt to me like they got intimidated. If there was a bit of a feeling of being jinxed, I hope this victory put it behind them and they can start playing consistent ninety minute games.

Anyway, it was great to be there to enjoy the win and the atmosphere. Live is so much better than TV!
