Friday night is “catch up from the week before finals” night on the Kansas City Wizards Offside!

Eddie Johnson is the Man of the Month
Here’s what it takes to be the man of April: nearly double your previous season’s output. In 2006 (When will I stop reminding people of this? When will this be no longer a viable stat? Probably next month sometime.) he scored just 2 goals and an assist. This month alone, he’s scored 3 and helped out on two. His main competition was Taylor Twellman, who scored 4 but had no assists. Add in the fact that Eddie’s goals were game-winners and you have yourself a victory.

Congratulations, Eddie! Thank you, thank you for doing whatever you did to do what you do now but didn’t do before when you weren’t doing it…

The Wizards are on the Silver Screen
For readers living in the Kansas City area, please take note. The Wizards are coming to a theater near you. As a rather creative advertising campaign, the Wizards will be showing highlight clips at local theaters as part of the previews. I think it’s a great way to get people to see the level of play in MLS and realize, “Hey, we have a professional sports team here not named the Royals or Chiefs!” At very least, people may start coming to Wizards games because the Royals stink and the Chiefs aren’t playing. Or they may simply become annoyed and start impatiently chomping on their popcorn. I tend to have a little more optimism than that. Families go to movies and children are impressed by sports clips and soccer moms will be pressured to bring the kiddies to a Wizards game.
