Harrington Really Exists; Wizards Head Back to Oz.
By: Michael | March 21st, 2007The last thing I will say about Kansas City playing Boca Juniors. It happened. We lost, 2-0, both goals coming in the second half… Kronberg let in the first in the 73rd minute, Konopka came in at the 75th and let in the second. If you believe kcwizards.com, the Wizards managed 5 scoring chances.
So our hot prospect from this year’s draft, Michael Harrington, really does exist. I was beginning to wonder if this was so, for his playing time has been limited (Youth Men’s National Team, etc.) and the goal scoring has been nearly non-existent. This changed as our Wizards handed Argentine “A” side River Plate a 4-0 win. The first two goals were put in by Harrington - huzzah! His foot can finish. Here are the unofficial stats:
Kansas City Wizards: Kronberg, Jewsbury, Garcia (Thomas-65), Hohlbein, Burciaga, Jr., Harrington (John-65), Zavagnin, Morsink, Watson (Raybould-65), Pore (Guadarrama-75), Sealy
Scoring Summary:
Harrington (Pore) - 23rd
Harrington (Zavagnin) - 38th
Guadarrama (Sealy) - 75th
Raybould (John) - 80thWeather: 85 degrees, clear skies and sunny
Location: River Plate Training Facility, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Notes:
1) Kerry Zavagnin, Michael Harrington, and I all picked UNC to win March Madness (UNC over Oregon in one bracket, Texas A&M over Florida in the another).
2) Some Wizards were apparently on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Did anyone happen to catch who exactly it was?
3) Kevin Hartman wrote about finishing up the Argentina trip and playing a game to pick the song one would listen to forever if forced to.
4) The Kansas City Star believes fully describing Kevin Hartman still makes his identity hard enough for a Sports Trivia question. Name recognition drive for MLS, anyone?
Tune in next time to find out what the Wizards are going to do now that they no longer have the strain of playing The Beautiful Game under beautiful skies in a beautiful country…
