Here’s a Stadium Idea
By: Mike | August 7th, 2008The other day, Kansas City Soccer Review had some great thoughts about what kind of stadium should be built to house the Wizards. The author hoped for a stadium true to the spirit of the game, not just the bottom line. Here’s my idea.
How ’bout terraces? Morrison Stadium, home of Creighton Bluejay soccer here in Omaha, has a fine facility that includes terraces on one side. Obviously the new stadium in KC will need to be larger than the 6000 capacity Morrison, but the basic premise is the same. Nothing says good old fashioned soccer tradition than a free-wheeling terrace section. This presupposes it doesn’t lead to that other good old fashioned English soccer tradition: hooliganism. Despite the recent silliness in Columbus, I don’t see this as much of a problem in the MLS.
