KC 1 - 0 TFC: No Rest for the Weary
By: Michael | April 28th, 2007Imagine my surprise when I sat down fifteen minutes ago to write up the preview for tonight’s game against Toronto FC, only to find out I would instead by writing the postgame recap of this afternoon’s game! My grasp of basic schedule-reading must not be as strong as I once thought; this would perhaps suggest playing a plethora of games in the first two weeks of the season can be not only a strain on the players, but on bloggers as well!
While I think I’ll wait for some more details to become available about the game (obviously I happened to miss this one) before I write up a formal report, there are some things which need to be reported while their fresh:
1) The Wizards won 1-0 off of an 81′ goal from Eddie Johnson, assisted by Michael Harrington. I think Harrington to Johnson is becoming one of my favorite duos of the season…
2) Carlos Marinelli went out at 16′ with what apparently was a tight left hamstring, something which hadn’t previously bothered him. Perhaps he wasn’t as match-fit as the Wizards had thought, or (hopefully) it was simply a freak thing caused by the strange Canadian water or by not stretching beforehand. If it was truly a simple precautionary move, all in the land of Oz will be relieved. Ryan Pore played in his stead until 90′, and was then subbed in for Morsink.
3) Every good list has at least three items. This list, however, does not.
More to come later!

You seem like a nice guy Michael, but if your team keeps doing this to mine, I may just hunt you down as a scapegoat :).

Yeah, I thought the game was 11:30 PM … seemed awfully late for a non-west coast game, but I went with the schedule. I think MLSNet goofed on this one.

The Wizards website had the game listed as 11:30 PM, but MLSnet had the game at 12:30 PM Eastern time, aka 11:30 central.
The main thing you missed from the game today was the great crowd up in Toronto for the game. It was fantastic. Toronto played very well in the first half, but faded in the second and KC took advantage of it.
