KC-RSL pregame. Can we score a goal please? Anyone?
By: Herschel | August 28th, 2009Real Salt Lake comes into town this weekend after trouncing Chivas USA on Wednesday. That’s a perfect recipe for disaster for a team like the Wizards that has scored ONE goal in it’s last 6 games (7 if you count the loss vs. Seattle for the US Cup).
I didn’t go out to Swope Park to watch practice this week so my lineup prognostication will probably a bit off (vs. it being “spot on last weekend”) but my expectations of what will happen if we go with the “status quo” Onalfo-based team will be the same: not good.
At this point in the season I would love to see a youth movement for KC but I have my doubts since it would seem that Vermes, like a lot of the players on the team, is trying out for his job next year so he will go with the experience vs. the youth and excitement.
The possible absence of Movsisyan and Javier Morales might make KC defense have an easier time, but because we just cannot find the back of the net they are really going to be perfect for the team to have a chance. RSL is still looking pretty good when it comes to the playoff picture so they will be coming into the CAB with an extra incentive of moving up in the West.
My predicted lineup for this game is:
Hartman
Watson-Bessler-Conrad-Harrington
Arnaud-Jewsbury-Hirsig-Lopez
Zoltan-Cristman
Prediction:
Wait for it………. We will finally score a goal but we’ll give one up.
RSL-1 KC-1
How many goals will we score this weekend?(surveys)

I doubt that they will.

I hear ya, son. If it weren’t for Seattle’s recent fluky Beckham-sees-red game against LA and the goal Jaqua accidentally knocked in with his shinguard against Houston, I’d be feeling exactly the same way.
