KC’s Front Office Again Lends an Ear to Supporters.

By: Michael | July 21st, 2007

Posted at BigSoccer.com, Robb Heineman has once again asked for KC supporter’s opinions on the direction of the club. Such posts always generate great discussion, and go far in helping the committed fanbase feel even more like a part of the organization. I think Heineman’s questions accurately underscore the team’s current direction, and have posted his poll (along with my opinions) here:

1. where would you like to play in ‘08? (to clarify a. high school stadium, b. arrowhead c. other ideas you have)
I think a HS stadium is a step backwards and the only way ahead would be a SSS, so my choice would be another year at the Arrowhead.

2. who would you like to play in friendly matches and where?
At home, against Atlas. Is there a better way to catch the eye of the local football population who don’t already attend matches?

3. would you rather build a stadium in kansas or missouri?
Missouri.

4. if you could pick-out and sign our DP who would it be?
I would love to see us make a splash in the international transfer market and also buck the current trend of signing post-peak talent. Bringing in a young Latin American player who has been tracked by European clubs by offering a similar amount of money and the opprotunity to play first team soccer would be ideal in my opinion. As for position, I would lean on looking for a central midfielder, someone to be a Zavagnin or Preki-esque presense as he grows into his talent. Let’s find a young guy who will be a franchise player for years to come and believes in the vision of the club and the MLS.

5. if you could trade for anybody in the league, who would it be?
The thought of this year’s best rookies (Altidore and Harrington) on the same squad is enough to finish my search with Altidore.

6. preseason - argentina or spain?
Argentina was great and has certainly served our team well, but now that we have established a connection there, why not go to Spain? La Liga is easily the most underrated league in the world and as has been suggested before - wouldn’t sister city Sevilla make a great partnership?

7. promote pierron or reynolds?
Too close to call in my opinion…

Thanks for asking, QJA… it is true that Real Madrid and Barcelona are well regarded by fans in the United States, and rightfully so. However, my assertion that La Liga is underrated comes in the huge dropoff in in knowlege/credit that comes once you travel outside of the “big two”. Valencia, Sevilla, Deportivo, etc. have all produced excellent teams at some point during the past few years but still have the noteriety of a Watford or Wigan in the United States.

For the love of god… is this a joke. “KC’s Front Office Again Lends an Ear to Supporters.” The Wizards front office (organization) doesn’t give a damn about their supporters. Hell they should ask the Argentines since those are the ones who the Wizards support with comp tickets. I don’t see them going out an offering comp tickets to other Nationalities, i.e.., AMERICAN. Heck I’m not trying to single out one group but for the sake of God they don’t care. This whole thing is to find out the best place for the Wizards new home. By the way, this should have been done years ago. Ok lets look at who go to the Games, let me rephrase that, who the Wizards want at the games. They could put it in Kansas because its closer to the Argentine. But if they really want better supports they need to find a perfect place that would be accessible to both residences from Kansas and Missouri. If they move to Kansas they will lose a lot of Missouri Fans. No one is willing to travel 30 to 45 minutes, with no traffic. The idea place, as long as ballistic vest are given, is the Bannister Mall location. 3 major highways join together at that location, and the distance is perfect for all Fans of the Wizards, including the Argentines.
