Lopez and long bombs. There’s a history

By: Herschel | July 28th, 2009

So I did a little research (actually just went on YouTube) looking for some of Claudio Lopez’s past goals to compare them with the one he scored on Saturday. As luck would have it I found one very similar, this one he gave to the Valencia fans years back.

Here they are. Tell me which one you like more. I’m a biased KC fan, but I think the one Saturday was better even with the Gonzalez mistake. I also think Ricketts’ effort made it look a bit better. He is of course nominated (and should win) goal of the week.

Love both goals. Both are great. On KCs goal, it was so quick, it’s impressive. Plus Rickett’s effort makes it look really nice, as you say. But then the goal with Valencia, first the field looks larger, and it looks much more calculated.
The most important thing is it proves it was no fluke.

There’s no way it was a fluke regardless. He looks up and basically hits the back of the net on the fly. This wasn’t Beckham rolling it the last 15 yards. Tremendous skill. He almost doubled up with a freekick that hit the crossbar.

Claudio Lopez is the true wasted talent! He deserved much more than he got in his career. I believe his Lazio move didn’t turn to be as good as expectations and I believe he left europe too soon. He still could be very effective for a big club in europe. One of my favortie players of all times!

I go into this article 1005 unbiased, with no real opinion on either team, having never seen either goal.

The Kansas City goal is better. No doubt.
