SKC Wizards vs Vancouver Whitecaps Preview

By: Morpheus | March 31st, 2011

Now it is time to put that loss behind us and start looking forward to the next game.  With international duties ending and hopefully some injuries healing we should see a more cohesive side when SKC travels to Empire Field in Vancouver.

Both teams will be playing with our their designated players as both received red cards last week and will be forced to support from the stands.

History

Normally I would start here with some history but in this case there isn’t any.  This is the Whitecaps first season in the MLS.

Lineups

Vancouver Whitecaps
Vancouver is going to have a couple of key defenders back in Demerit and Boxall.  This will make the Whitecap defense even harder to breakdown.  But, they will be without Hassli their designated player and leading goal scorer.  Another blow to the attacking from of the Whitecaps is that Altiba Harris (assists leader) sat out of practice on Tuesday.  This doesn’t mean that he won’t see the field but if Harris does miss the game then Vancouver’s attacking front will be greatly hurt.

Sporting Kansas City
The Wizards will be missing their own leading scorer with Omar Bravo serving his suspension for the red card against Chicago.  But, with Kei Kamara coming back from international duty that means SKC’s assist leader could be in the lineup.  There is no word on Julio Cesar’s injured leg, but hopefully he will be able to step back in.  If Cesar can’t go Shavar Thomas will be back from his international duty and could allow Espinoza to get back to his left back position.  Now for my lineup prediction.

Jimmy Nielsen

Chance Myers     Matt Besler     Julio Cesar     Roger Espinoza

Davy Arnaud     Craig Rocastle     Milos Stojcev

Kei Kamara     C.J. Sapong     Teal Bunbury

Prediction

I predict that this game will not be the high scoring affair that the Wizards have been involved in the last 2 weeks.  But, I do think that the Wizards will be fielding the stronger team.  It will be up to Kamara and Bunbury to stretch out Vancouver’s back line and to get crosses into the middle for Sapong to get a hold of.  The biggest question is can SKC’s back line keep the Whitecaps from getting a goal.  So far the Wizard’s defense has allowed 5 goals in 2 games and they really need to step up and hold a clean sheet.  SKC 2 – Whitecaps 0.

I’ve heard of so many different wait lists which means that competition is tougher than ever. It’s important to remember that so you can stay ahead of everyone else

DeMerit should be back from international duty so unless he is injured he should be available for the game.

And I can’t wait to read your post after we crush you!

I think Captain Jay (I just made that up) may have picked up a knock.

Watch the game Morpheous, you’ll see A) your team not winning and B) a real soccer atmosphere.

I hope Chiumiento is healthy, that kid is a difference maker, and will rip apart your backline!

    Told you we would tie!

What an incredible game, glad I was there and resisted the urge to leave early and beat the rush. For and expansion team to come back from 3-nil, with 2 goals in extra time is remarkable. We should’ve won the game, but your keeper Nielsen was a stud between the sticks. Speaking of studs, Bunbury score two beautiful goals. Even more reason to hate him. Lol

I will give you credit for calling the tie, but there is no way it should have ended that way. I give the Whitecaps credit for not giving up when down 3-0. Game Report to come later tonight.

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the page layout of your blog? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
