So we might be signing an ugly Argentinian attacking midfielder…
By: Michael | April 3rd, 2007The rumors have been flying around about Kansas City finally signing an international attacking midfielder to fill in the creativity void left from Preki years ago. The first place I saw the story was MLS Underground, which posted the Atlas partnership before even the Kansas City Star (side note: MLSNet still hasn’t said a word about it. Great!). The suggestion is that we’re on the verge of signing a midfielder from South America NOT named Luciano de Bruno.
ESPN’s Wizards season preview goes even further with its claims:
There is a gaping hole at attacking midfielder, although the club may already have a solution in pocket, awaiting only a final contract signature.
Hmm… seems pretty certain of a midfield addition, does it not?
Even MLSNet (*GASP!*) is on the ball with this one:
Hints have been dropped in various areas by Kansas City officials that the Wizards will fill their open international spot in the near future, likely with an attacking midfielder.
Through BigSoccer.com, I’ve found out that Carlos Marinelli, a 25yo Argentine midfielder formerly of Middlesbrough FC has been practicing with the team. There’s even photographic evidence of such.
And hey, if you’re newest addition is one Uglyfootballers.com’s staring XI, what is there not to love?

Between the addition of him and Blanco MLS just got a whole lot uglier this year.
