Wizards close to signing a DP…

By: travis | February 22nd, 2008

According to Goff, negotiations are close between Claudio Lopez and the Wizards. Interesting move, to say the least. Lopez, 33 years old, has quite the international background, having earned 50+ caps for Argentina and making appearances at the World Cup in 2002 and 1998.

Lopez would be a replacement for Johnson. Could be seen as an upgrade given his experience, or as a downgrade simply because of his age. While the deal remains close, nothing is set in stone. Will keep you updated…

He’s still effective. And still a damn fine player.
