Wizards to play in first New Mexico Cup

By: travis | May 22nd, 2008

The Wizards are going to get some international competition in just over a week. They’re going to take part in the New Mexico Cup, being held at the University of New Mexico Football Stadium in Albuquerque. KC will face Club Social y Deportivo Municipal, a club from Guatemala.

Tickets are available here for those living in New Mexico. It’s a random time to schedule an international friendly, and I would expect the Wizards to field a reserve-dominant squad. A shame that the exhibition couldn’t be scheduled closer to the Kansas City area. It’ll be a good test for the Wizards and give Coach Onalfo a chance to see more of his reserves in action, or quite possibly first team players against different competition.

For further information, there is a calender from 3 Star Sports that’s a bit heavier on the details - although not by much.
