Eloy Colombano released

By: travis | June 20th, 2008

It’s been a relatively quiet week. Big game ahead this weekend, although I find myself repeating that now. Every game that is dropped means further points out of the playoffs. Again, repeating myself in saying that there is still much time left in the season. Lots of games to be played, so there is no reason for desperation. But maybe desperation is what the Wizards need. No wins in six games means that something is going wrong. A lack of goals is one thing. Only 10 from 11 games. More on this later.

While not necessarily related to the Wizards struggles, the team announced that Eloy Colombano was released this week. It was apparently mutual, with Colombano a bit homesick and unhappy with playing time was looking to move back to Argentina. His wife and son both live there, so it’s understandable. He’s appeared in seven games this season, having started one. Is this a sign of things to come? More players could be on their way in or out, especially if things don’t change anytime soon.

I met Eloy - good guy, but like many Argentines, the life here is just such a drastic change that they look back to their homeland for normalcy.
